WMC 2011 Preview: Hector Romero - Def Mix, New YorkHector Romero is a multi-talented, multi-funtional player in the electronic music game. This year Def Mix is hosting two events. The first one is the official WMC opening party at The Vagabond in downtown Miami. Frankie Knuckles, David Morales and myself will be holding it down all night. Frankie invited Jamie Principle to perform the classic "Your Love" along with new material they've been working on. Then on Thursday March 10th Def Mix & Glamsta Records are hosting the David Morales RESURRECTION album preview party. It's daytime pool party at the Shelborne Hotel with David, Quentin Harris, and myself, all following in his father’s footsteps Brandon Morales. A special appearance by Def Mix godfather Frankie Knuckles will top that one off, and performing selections from Morales’ album will be Ultra Nate', Jonathan Mendelsohn, Tamra Keenan & Lisa Pure, all sponsored by Ultra Music. David's album (RESURRECTION) releases on Ultra Records this summer. We're even shooting the video in Miami for the first single titled "You Just Don't Love Me," sung by Jonathan Mendelsohn. So an action packed week for the Def Mix crew.
Any thoughts about the WMC vs Ultra week split?

We'll soon see the affect it will take on WMC, but it's obvious that all the Europeans have chosen Ultra. It's a real shame this split has occured. There is power in numbers and not when you're divided.
Secret weapon track for 2011?
I just received 2011 remixes of the classic 4th Measure Men track, "4 You," that MK remixed back in the day, by 2000 and One and Maya Jane Coles, and both Tedd Patterson and Sean Miller from Toronto hit me up with a couple of unreleased tracks, so get ready!!!
Favorite Miami hotel?
That W Hotel sure is special and since WMC and Ultra split the rates were pretty low for WMC week! Love it there.
Favorite Miami restaurant?
Ok - I'll let you in on my REAL secret weapon! It's called La Parilla Liberty - it's an amazing low key Argentinian steak place... They import their meat! It's located at 609 Washington Avenue - www.laparrillaliberty.com
Best place to chill in Miami (non-club)?
I love having a chill meal on Lincoln Road - good for people watching.
The best way to cure a Miami hangover?
Honestly, in bed with the shades pulled down tight! I'm a pro!
Best clubbing moment for 2011 so far?
I just played our 3rd Anniversary at Saw Air Night Club in Tokyo - which was amazing. I really couldn't think of a better gig to test all the great music I've been receiving pre-Miami. So from here I fly straight to Florida - wish me luck!!!
Producer to watch in 2011?
Absolutely be on the look out for amazing music from The Cube Guys, Franco De Mulero, and Francesco Tarantini - all 3 are just getting better and better with time.
Plans for 2011?

I'm happy to say that we're back at Pacha, Ibiza with a bunch of dates on Tuesdays this summer, and I'll be resident for the month of August at a club in south Italy. Should be a fantastic summer!
